"Your group is awesome. As you know, I love great a cappella work. Bless you!" Bill Gaither
In unity, RESCUE exists to bring people to a relationship with Christ and encourage believers through biblically based music and testimony that unites all ages, in order to magnify the name of the Lord.
RESCUE is an award-winning, non-profit vocal group based out of Portland Oregon. The group has been performing for over 20 years, has released six full-length albums, one live concert DVD, a patriotic EP, a new Christmas EP and is currently working to complete their seventh full-length album. Their albums and songs have won numerous CARA awards (Contemporary Acappella Recording Association) and Independent Music Awards.
RESCUE had its beginning in the spring of 1996. Jason Overstreet had just finished his senior college recital, in which he had written and performed several acappella songs. Impressed with his performance, his professors urged him to pursue his musical talents in the field of vocal music. Having had previous conversations regarding their shared passion for singing, Jason got in touch with high-school and college friends Jason McKenney, Chad Krober and Matt Lusk, all of which had performed in Jason’s recital. Together they formed a quartet and committed to writing, learning and performing Christian acappella music.
After independently raising funds, RESCUE entered the studio in November of 1998 and recorded their first CD, self-titled “RESCUE”. After the release in February of 1999, the response to the CD lead to an overwhelming amount of ministry opportunities for the group.
RESCUE has performed extensively throughout the United States and internationally. Some of their highlights include performing for: President George W. Bush, Fiji Fest, Focus on the Family, World Vision, Promise Keepers, Creation West and Spirit West Coast, ACSI conferences, professional sporting events, community events, retreats, churches, schools, and prisons. Additionally, they have shared the stage with Dr. James Dobson, Frank Piretti, Luis Palau, Avalon, Rebecca St. James, Nichole Nordeman, Point of Grace, Sara Groves, Ginny Owens, Geoff Moore, Shawn McDonald, and many others.
Since founding RESCUE in 1996, producer Jason Overstreet continues to invest his time arranging and producing RESCUE’s music and overseeing all aspects of the group in order to maintain the stability and consistency of the music ministry.
Jason, along with other current group members, Brian Sell, Kovy Aguiar, Josh Reznick and Tyler Luecke have a deep-rooted foundation in their faith. They feel both humbled and honored that God has allowed them to be part of this special music ministry.
